When I first heard the lineup for the New Orleans WSOP Main Event final table, I knew there would be fireworks. At the start of the day the final table looked like this,
1. Floyd Vanderford New Orleans, LA 65,000
2. Check Kelley Staunton, VA 142,000
3. Lou Esposito Howard Beach, NY 116,000
4. Timothy âTKâ Miles Tallahassee, FL 687,000
5. Jeff Tims Houston, TX 345,000
6, Ed Jatho Abita Springs, LA 406,000
7. Marc Fratter Murphy, TX 311,000
8. Gabe Costner Long Beach, MS 166,000
9. Nick Ceci Peachtree City, GA 256,000
With a mix of about half amateurs and half pros, the final table looked to be exciting. As you can see from the starting chip counts, Gulf Coast poker pro and “Rounder of the Year”, Timothy “TK” Miles was the man to beat with 687,000 in chips. You may also notice another Gulf Coast poker pro, Gabe Costner and the reigning Bayou Poker Challenge champion, Lou Esposito at the final table. You might remember Gabe from his comments on my article about online poker cheating.
I was hoping for an epic battle where we would see Lou versus the two Gulf Coast poker pros fighting for the title. Obviously, I wanted TK and Gabe to send the New Yorker packing.
Amateur “demolishes” Gulf Coast pros and the Champ
As predicted the Gulf Coast poker players outlasted the reigning WSOP champ Lou Esposito from New York. But in the end, it was amateur poker player, and demolition contractor, Nick Ceci from Peachtree, Georgia who beat Timothy Miles heads up for the title, the ring, and over $382,000 in prize money.
The complete results of the final table were,
1 Nick Ceci - $382,928
2 Timothy Miles - $210,610
3 Floyd Vanderford - $107,699
4 Gabe Costner - $83,766
5 Jeff Tims - $71,799
6 Lou Esposito - $59,833
7 Charles Kelley - $47,866
8 Ed Jatho - $35,900
9 Marc Fratter - $23,933
Congrats to all you guys who made it to the final table.
