slow98zx2 mentioned playing Roulette which brought up some bad memories of mine. This is the toughest beat I've ever taken in a casino.
Roulette deals a bad beatThis started on my 21st b-day. One of my brothers (a true gambler) was my first casino mentor (big mistake). He's like
Quote:
if it keeps hitting black, bet on red, because it's got to hit red soon
I just nodded and believed what he said.
Of course that's what is known as the "gambler's fallacy". Anyway, after he "taught" me that lesson on how to beat Roulette I just watched him play that day. Later in the year I went with a buddy to New Orleans and we hit Harrah's. I tried his technique and was making some bucks.
Then it started to go down hill. It kept hitting black so I bet on red, and then doubled my bet on red, and doubled it again! Then I went bust. But I just knew it was going to hit RED, so I ran to the ATM to get money and threw $200 on red in an attempt to get even - BLACK! I actually went back AGAIN and took out $400 to put on red and finally it didn't hit black --- it hit double zero.
I was sick to my stomach and didn't walk into a casino for a loooong time. Until I started playing poker several years later.
I know you guys have some good gambling stories. So let's hear about the hardest gambling lessons you've learned.
